Does anyone else feel like school is mysteriously picking up right now? Like, I know the weather is getting warmer and people are starting to look towards summer, so maybe it’s just the contrast of fantasy with reality, but school seems harder to me this week. I’m setting my alarm earlier to get more things done. And I’m not even sure why, but all of this focus is starting to make me stressed.
So to remedy this building feeling, I picked the antithesis of stress for this week’s blog post: Six Organs of Admittance. Totally experimental, totally chill, totally perfect for right now. Folk artist Ben Chasny is Six Organs, and he has put out over ten albums under the name. His latest work, out only a few weeks ago, is “Asleep on the Floodplain,” and features more indie-experimental goodness.
Check out my favorite track from the album, called “Above a Desert I’ve Never Seen” right here. Get totally carried away. It’s happy, it’s sad–but at least it’s not homework.
**Also: Six Organs of Admittance will be playing in Santa Monica 4/9 at McCabe’s Guitar Shop. Check the band website (linked above) for ticket info if you’re interested.
